Man Injured While Riding Bicycle in Huntington Beach Files a Claim for $250,000

January 10, 2011-According to reports a man that was injured in Huntington Beach has filed a $250,000 lawsuit.

The bicyclist Eugene Grant Duke age 56, a resident of Huntington Beach was injured when a bicycle accident occurred near a railroad crossing. The accident occurred when he was riding his bike over the railroad tracks located on Springdale Street in the vicinity of Briacliff.

Duke’s front tire became caught between the two rubber surface mats throwing him from the bike head first onto concrete. He sustained facial injuries including fractures to his cheeks and impaired vision.

The severe injuries that Duke sustained to his face required surgery due to the fractured ocular check bones. He also needed surgery and stitches in his thumb. The Huntington Beach resident has impaired vision and multiple scars to his face as a result of the accident.

The city of Huntington Beach currently has the claim under review and no action has been taken yet. In the claim Duke alleges that the city did not properly inspect or maintain the railroad track surface mats.
