Los Angeles Man Killed in Glendora on the 210 Freeway After Truck Breaks Down
August 28, 2010-According to reports a Los Angeles man was killed in Glendora after his truck breaks down. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs, Kevin Payne age 50 of Los Angeles was killed Friday evening at approximately 6:50 p.m.
The fatal accident occurred on the westbound side of the 210 Freeway in the vicinity of Lonehill Avenue. Payne whose Toyota truck had broken down earlier in the day returned in a Mercedes-Benz to have the vehicle towed.
According to Officer Jacobs, Payne was standing on the shoulder, when a van driven by Toby K. Okleshen age 36 of Los Vegas veered off the road striking the Mercedes. The Mercedes struck Payne throwing him into the bed of the truck.
Payne was airlifted to County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to officer Jacobs. Okleshen sustained minor injuries in the collision.
Officer Jacobs stated, investigators have not determined yet why the van veered off the freeway.
