Federal Investigators Looking Into Runaway Prius in California

According to a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Transportation Tuesday, stated federal officials are sending two investigators to California to determine what caused Monday’s incident with a Toyota Prius on Interstate 8.
The 2008 Toyota Prius driven by James Sikes was out of control for approximately 20 minutes Monday afternoon on a San Diego freeway, which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will now try to determine what caused the acceleration problem.
The 2008 Prius was towed to an El Cajon Toyota dealership for inspection according to California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Pennings. The out of control Prius incident took place the same day that Toyota challenged claims that electronics on the vehicles could cause the accelerator pedal to stick.
Toyota is still maintaining the problems in the millions of the motor vehicles causing car accidents that have been recalled are mechanical.
