Tour Bus Company Closed After Fatal Arizona Crash

March 8, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports federal officials closed the tour bus company involved in a fatal Arizona tour bus crash.

The bus company identified as Tierra Santa Inc. based in Van Nuys has been closed by federal officials after one of their buses was involved in an accident in Arizona that took the lives of six passengers and injured sixteen other passengers.

The bus company was found to have poor safety records and was closed after finding they did not have federal authorization to transport passengers over the state line.

According to court documents the president of Tierra Santa Inc. Cayetano Martinez signed a decree to the effect that they did not have the federal authority necessary to transport passengers over sate lines on Friday.

According to U.S. attorney’s office spokes person Thom Mrozek the decree that was signed by Martinez was also signed by U.S. District Judge George King, which makes it an enforceable court order. The U.S. attorney’s office will file more documents today to support the governments enforcement against the bus company located in the vicinity of Victory and Van Nuys boulevards in Van Nuys.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood stated that it is imperative to remove unsafe carriers off the roads.

According to officials the Terra Santa Inc buses had a poor safety record and while dodging government regulations they were operating off the books.
