Volvo Recalls Vehicles Due to Possible Fuel Leak
January 7, 2010, (by Horatio Algren) According to reports Volvo is recalling approximately 136,000 potentially defective vehicles for a possible fuel leak, and will include vehicles from 2001 through 2005.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall and the concern is a crack that can developed in the fuel system putting the vehicle at risk that can result in fire. The models being recalled are from several states including California.
The models being recalled are:
Volvo S60 : 2001-2004
Volvo S80: 2002-2005
Volvo V70: 2001-2004
Volvo XC: 2001-2004
Volvo XC90: 2003-2005
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it is possible the driver will smell the odor of gasoline after a crack develops in the fuel pump flange. This with the proper conditions can result in fire.
Volvo dealers will inspect the vehicles fuel pump and replace them if defective with a new modified part free of charge for the owners of these models of vehicles.
