Thanksgiving Fatalities Up This Year

November 30, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports the fatalities over the Thanksgiving weekend, with 30 deaths, which was up from 24 fatalities during the same period last year.

According to the California Highway Patrol there were 5 traffic related fatalities in Los Angeles County, and a large fatality crash that occurred in Marin County when a car sped through a red light colliding with a minivan killing four family members.

The California Highway Patrol stated that there were 225 arrests in Los Angeles County for suspicion of driving under the influence. The statewide arrests for driving under the influence according to the California Highway Patrol were over 1,300 drivers. The total drivers arrested was 1,314 and Thanksgiving weekend of 2008 there were 1,397 arrests for driving under the influence.
