October 21, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports a man identified as Stanley Wisniewski age 59 of Paso Robles was fatally injured after failing to negotiate a sharp turn on Highway 41.

According to the California Highway Patrol the accident occurred between 7:00 and 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, Friday at approximately 10:25 a.m. A Cal Trans employee spotted the vehicle and along with other witnesses attempted to provide aid to the crash victim.

Wisniewski was traveling southbound on Highway 51; north of Yosemite Place in a 1958 Mercedes Benz, according to police for reasons unknown he failed to negotiate a sharp left hand turn on the highway. This they believe placed the vehicle so that the right tire was traveling on the dirt portion of the road, which they believe he over corrected and sent the vehicle across both lanes of the highway.

The Mercedes Benz then traveled down an embankment approximately 150 feet until the front end crashed into a deep drainage gully. Police also stated that the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and they are unsure of the rate of speed Wisniewski was traveling.

According to the California Highway Patrol the San Luis Obispo ambulance and fire departments responded to the scene of the accident and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
