Man Killed In Caltrain Train Collision
September 16 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by Caltrain accident attorneys, a Redwood City, California Caltrain train collision took the life of a vehicle driver after being boxed in by traffic.
According to Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn the driver of a Honda was boxed in by traffic with vehicles on all sides after traffic at Whipple Avenue had stopped to let a San Carlos fire truck pass that was in route to a structure fire. The Honda was stopped on the tracks when the crossing arms went down for the southbound train No. 362 was passing the railroad crossing.
The train was traveling at approximately 75 miles per hour when it struck the Honda, destroying it and killing the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision and was the only occupant in the vehicle.
The accident occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. and according to the San Mateo the identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of his next of kin.
