Check Points Increase For Holiday Weekend

July 2, 2009 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports by DUI Lawyers Los Angeles, the Riverside County law enforcement plans to boost the amount of patrols and check points for the Independence Day weekend.

According to statements by Chief Russ Leach drivers of all ages need to find a safe ride home this holiday weekend if they have been drinking or they can expect to be arrested.

The name of the holiday checkpoint campaign according to Riverside Police spokesperson Karen Haverkamp is “Avoid the 30” that is named after the local and state law enforcement agencies that will be looking for drivers under the influence from Friday until early Monday morning.

The checkpoints include Coachella, Corona and other cities throughout the county on each night of the Independence Day weekend. During last years checkpoints for the 4th of July campaign ended with approximately 60 vehicles being impounded, 17 people that were killed and 382 people injured in alcohol related accidents statewide.
