Arrest Made In Echo Park Bicyclist Hit and Run

According to reports by bicycle injury lawyers in Los Angeles, a man has been arrested in the fatality of a bicyclist in Echo Park.

The man arrested has been identified as Alejandro Hidalgo age 22 of Panorama City, when he struck and fatally injured a 44-year-old man riding a bicycle.

According to Officer Christine Eastburn of the Los Angeles Police Department the hit and run occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Glendale Boulevard in the southbound lane. Witnesses to the hit and run accident wrote down the license plate number of Hidalgo’s vehicle.

Hidalgo was then arrested at his home and he was booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter according to Officer Eastburn. The officer went on to state that because of evidence left at the scene and a statement from Hidalgo’s passenger at the time of the accident it has been determined Hidalgo was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.

The bicyclist has only been identified as a 44-year-old man ending notification of his next of kin died at the scene of the accident according Officer Eastburn and was a resident of Los Angeles.
