In a statement by California Highway Patrol Officer Taj Johnson, eight of the passengers were severely injured while thirteen were said to have sustained minor injuries in the accident. After the crash occurred as temperatures in the bus began to rise some of the passengers were able to escape though the windshield that had shattered and many were aided by other passengers and motorists that had stopped to assist the victims of the tour bus crash.
A San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman, Tracey Martinez stated that the passengers boarded the Fox Hills Mall in Culver City and the bus was a Royal American Tours & Charter of Glendale. The identities of the injured victims have not been released but it is known that Faith Creers mother and daughter were also passengers on the tour bus. There were also reports that she may have been traveling with her husband.
There were approximately six helicopters and nine emergency vehicles, some of which were from a nearby military base. According to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson most of the passengers were from West Los Angles that were on the tour bus.
