Three Marines Killed in Dana Point Crash
February 14, 2012 – According to reports three Marines were killed in a Dana Point car crash.
According to Orange County Sheriff Department spokesman Jim Amormino, the crash occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Golden Lantern Avenue and Terra Vista Avenue in Laguna Niguel.
The Marines killed were in a single vehicle crash in a 2005 Dodge Stratus that the driver is believed to have lost control, with the Dodge hitting a tree at a high rate of speed.
Sheriff’s department spokesman Amormino said one of the Marines was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital and the other two Marines were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
A fourth Marine that was in the vehicle is hospitalized and listed in critical condition.
The names of the Marines have not been released. Authorities believe that speed and wet conditions on the roadway played a role in the crash and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, Amormio stated.
Amormino said it is believed the Marines could have been heading back to base at the time of the crash. This was a public service message from the personal injury attorneys at Ehline Law Firm PC 213.596.9642.
