Elementary Teacher Arrested For Blindfolding, Putting Cockroaches and Feeding Semen to Students

February 1, 2012 – According to reports an elementary teacher has been arrested for blindfolding students, putting cockroaches on their face and mouth and feeding them semen.

According to authorities the teacher is identified as Mark Berndt age 61 and former third grade teacher at Miramonte Elementary School in South Los Angeles.

Authorities said Berndt is alleged to have blindfolded students, gagged them, put cockroaches on their face and mouth and fed the children semen, in what the children believed was a game.

Berndt, who worked as a teacher at the Miramonte Elementary School was arrested at his home in Torrance on Monday and Tuesday was charged with 23 felony counts of lewd acts upon a child. The charges stem from 23 boys and girls that have been identified by authorities as victims. The crimes of the children occurred between 2005 and 2010, according to authorities.

According to authorities the investigation of the teacher began over a year ago when a CVS film processor alerted authorities and turned over 40 photographs. The photos showed children in the classroom that has their eyes blindfolded and their mouths covered with tape.

Authorities stated that more photographs were found at Berndt’s home, as many as 390 pictures and an adult sexual bondage film.
Berndt being held at the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $2.3 million dollars bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
