Mini Coopers Recalled Over Fire Risk

According to BMW they have issued a recall in the United States for 89,000 Mini Coopers due to a fire risk from the computer circuit board that controls the turbocharger cooling system that could fail.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, BMW sent them a letter that stated the Mini Cooper operates differently than the cooling system in BMW and Rolls-Royce automobiles.
Some Mini Coopers, according to the NHTSA have caught fire in the same way the other vehicles have and BMW is investigating if it is related to the problem or if it is just a coincidence. There have been 81 cases of Mini Coopers having water pump failure, but according to the German car maker there have been no fires, injuries or accidents reported.
The Mini Coopers that are included in the recall were manufactured between 2007 and 2011, including the Mini Cooper S hatchback and convertible, the Mini Cooper Countryman S their four-door SUV model, the John Cooper Works the high performance model and the Mini Cooper Clubman S their three door model.
Mini Cooper dealer will be replacing auxiliary water pumps on the recalled models, according to the automaker.
